Single Player Video Game Releases for the Week of May 26th

It’s a new week! And, of course, that means some red-hot new releases! Here’s the best of what’s coming out this week.

Watch Dogs
Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
Publisher: Ubisoft
Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, Playstation 4, PC, Wii U (late 2014)
Release Date: May 27th

Arguably May’s biggest game, Watch Dogs has been on everybody’s radar ever since it was revealed back at E3 2012, gaining even more press once it was pushed back from its projected November 2013 release date. It comes out tomorrow, so we’ll have to see if that delay resulted in a better game. We should have a review of Watch Dogs up sometime soon as we have not received a review copy of it.

Among the Sleep
Developer: Krillbite Studio
Publisher: Krillbite Studio
Platforms: Playstation 4, PC, Mac
Release Date: May 29th

There’s been a glut of first-person survival horror games in the indie scene recently; they’re arguably the independent developer’s Call of Duty. But it would appear we’ve finally got a horror game that, while it may not reinvent the wheel, adds some rad spinning chrome rims and a sick neon underglow. That’s…a tortured metaphor, but Among the Sleeplooks really cool either way. Yes, there is horror, and yes, the primary view is first-person. But playing from the unique perspective of a 2-year old could make for very a unique experience.

The Forest
Developer: Endnight Games
Publisher: Endnight Games
Platforms: PC
Release Date: May 30th (Early Access)

Look at that, it’s a first-person survival horror game! At least the folks over at Endnight Games appear to be trying with this one. In our exclusive interview with Endnight Games’ Ben Falcone, we learned about what makes The Forest so unique. “[The Forest's story is] purely told through gameplay and visuals. We have no audio logs, no text or dialogue of any kind,” said Falcone. You can read the full interview here.

The Stomping Land
Developer: SuperCrit
Publisher: SuperCrit
Platforms: PC
Release Date: May 30th (Early Access)

Well, at least it’s not a first-person survival horror game. It’s third-person survival game. And it’s launching in Early Access, too?! Man, I am racking up hella points on my Steam Greenlight Bingo card today!

Although The Stomping Land is primarily multiplayer, we discovered that it’s entirely possible to play the game offline, although that may result in a severely hampered experience. We’ll update you once we get our hands on the game.
